Making A Difference: Lexington Company And Foster Care Council Bring Mattresses To Kids In Need

Posted: Updated:

One Lexington-based company is working to help kids who may not be getting a good night's sleep.

Tempur-Pedic partnered with The Foster Care Council of Lexington to donate mattresses to kids in need.

“A good night's rest, you know how they feel the next day helps in their behavior, their academics,” said Cassie Slone, the Executive Director of The Foster Care Council.

The mattresses were handed out to families of foster children in Fayette County.

"Today we're very proud to be partnering with the foster care council of Lexington to provide over 120 mattresses to some great children and families,” said Brent Pfister, the Vice President of Marketing at Tempur-Pedic.

The numbers are high, but The Foster Care Council and Tempur-Pedic were determined to help as many people as they can.

"There are 800 plus foster kids in the Fayette County foster care system, and we the foster care council tries to help as many foster kids as we can,” said Slone.

Slone said that this is the first year the council has partnered with Tempur-Pedic. She hopes in the coming years they will be able to expand their mattress donations to different counties.
