LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police say a man charged in the death a 7-year-old Kentucky boy opened fire during a dice game near the victim's home. Dequante Hobbs Jr. was struck by a stray bullet as he ate cake at his kitchen table. Louisville police said Wednesday that 23-year-old Wyatt Williams was arrested and charged with murder. Police say Williams pulled out a gun during the dice game and opened fire on the evening of May 21.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A Jewish member of President Donald Trump's Cabinet says Trump has "done a good job of speaking for himself" and has made clear he opposes bigotry, hatred, violence, Nazis and white supremacists. Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin says he personally was "outraged" by the behavior of neo-Nazis and white supremacists _which included chants against Jews _ during weekend clashes with counter-demonstrators in Charlottesville, Virginia.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky man has been sentenced to 28 years in a drug case that authorities said resulted in an overdose death. The U.S. attorney's office in Lexington said Wednesday that 29-year-old Luis Aguirre-Jerardo of Versailles was sentenced in federal court. Prosecutors said Aguirre-Jerardo admitted that he distributed counterfeit pain pills that looked like oxycodone but instead contained the powerful opioid fentanyl. Prosecutors said Jolene Bowman died after ingesting the drug.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Officials in Kentucky are investigating a McDonald's after a woman reported finding a needle tip in her hamburger. News outlets report the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department investigated the restaurant Monday.
