Drive-In Theater Damaged In Powell County Storms

Posted: Updated:

STANTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - A 60-year-old family business in Powell County received damage in Thursday's storms.

The Mountain View Drive-In has been a staple in Powell County for the past six decades but after the storms they're left trying to figure out when their business will return to normal.

Other areas in Powell were damaged but the drive-in received the brunt of the storm's force. The majority of the roof on the building that houses their projector and concessions was ripped off.

The Baker family, who owns the theater, say they are sick over the damage but are trying not to let it bring them down.

"It's very emotional because we've been here so long, but we'll get it fixed," Lorna Baker told LEX 18.

Currently, the Bakers are still trying to ascertain the amount of damage done.
