LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - Less than 24 hours after a woman and her unborn son were murdered, hundreds of people lined Winburn Drive for a walk to honor her memory.

"I know what the mother wants, she wants to get to the bottom. she wants justice for her daughter," said Damon Muhammad with the Nation of Islam.

But this walk is for more than justice. It's a call for unity.

"Not just for one day, but we need to be in the streets continually in order to protect and preserve our community," said Muhammad.

As for the friends and family of 22-year-old Maryiah Coleman, the pain is not just in losing her, but a son just 28 days from entering the world.

"He would talk how Kobe would be kicking and rolling inside of her. He was already a little fighter then," said Quavanta Hayes, whose cousin was Coleman's boyfriend.

Hayes believes her cousin may have been targeted that night.

"You don't fire a single bullet into the back of a person and call it an accident," said Hayes. "It wasn't a drive by either. people would've heard the car, would've heard the screeches."

According to the Fayette County Coroner, Coleman died at UK Hospital early Thursday morning.

Police say they have no suspects in the shooting at this time and say they've received conflicting reports about the circumstances leading up to it.
