BYB's Valley Park Outreach Program and CKYO's MusicWorks team up for a performance showcasing Lexington's youth. Both of these programs focus on marginalized children and youth. The Valley Park Outreach Program was designed to also reach the Latino population as it offers bilingual ballet classes Monday-Thursday in Valley Park which is in walking distance to many of the dance students. We believe that ballet should be for everyone, just as the arts should be for everyone and not merely a select few. If children have the opportunity to express themselves with dance, and have a safe place to be with a caring adult after school, it could change the trajectory of their lives. The arts teach positive values like self-confidence, discipline, problem-solving, and a sense of community.
BYB's Valley Park Outreach Program and CKYO's MusicWorks will perform this weekend as a part of LexArts Arts Showcase Weekend. You can join them this Saturday, March 18 at 5 p.m. at Arts Place, 161 N. Mill St. for a collaboration performance of music and dance.
Thank you to LexArts who has provided funding and support for the Valley Park Outreach Program through its Fund for the Arts.
