Laurel Sheriff Seeks Information On Missing Teen

LONDON, Ky. (LEX 18) -- Deputies in Laurel County are investigating a missing 16-year-old.

Whitney Smith was last seen April 12 at 6:45 a.m. as she boarded her school bus on Dees Road. She was due to arrive home at 4 p.m. but never made it.

Whitney is 5-feet-2-inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. She has green eyes and a light complexion.

It is unknown where she went. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Smith they are asked to contact the Laurel County Sheriff's office at 606-864-6600 or 606-878-7000. Information will be strictly confidential.

Police say they found William Cole, 26, with life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. Police say their forensics team reviewed the scene, but at this time a motive for the shooting is unclear and they have no suspects.
