BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University junior outfielder Paige Murphy has been voted the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for softball, the league office announced on Monday.

Murphy hit .583 (7-for-12) with a home run, triple, double, five RBI and five runs to help lead EKU to three wins last week.

The product of Pleasure Ridge Park High School in Louisville went 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored in the Colonels’ doubleheader split at Dayton on Wednesday. She belted a two-run double in game one, and finished a perfect 3-for-3 with a solo home run to dead center and two runs scored in the game two win.

Murphy continued to rake in EKU’s OVC doubleheader at Tennessee State on Friday. She went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and two runs scored in the game one win at TSU and added an RBI single in the game two victory over the Tigers.

Murphy is now hitting .410 on the year, .471 during OVC play and .545 since returning from an 11-game injury stint on April 8.

Murphy was a first team All-OVC performer last year after leading the league in batting average (.395) and on-base percentage (.498).

EKU returns to action on Tuesday when the Colonels travel to Northern Kentucky for a midweek non-conference showdown. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
