Police: Woman Wanted In Wallet Theft Turns Self In

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) --  A woman police say was caught on camera stealing another person's wallet has turned herself in.

On February 21, an officer said that a woman had been shopping at the Family Dollar on Race Street with her two young children when she accidentally left her wallet on the counter after paying for her merchandise. When the victim returned to the store, the wallet was gone.

Police say that video surveillance revealed that the next customer in line had taken the wallet and placed it in her purse. You can see surveillance footage here

Investigators released surveillance video from the store and within 24-hours, the woman turned herself in.

Police have not released the woman's identity but say she will be issued a court summons for theft by unlawful taking.
