ESTILL COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) The Estill County Board of Education sent a message to parents about an investigation into a threat at a school.

They say that school personnel, as well as state and local authorities, have investigated a threat at the Estill County Middle School. All students and staff are safe and after assessing the situation, it has been determined that there is no danger.

A letter sent home to parents from Principal Tim Burkhart said that a small group of students had been messaging each other outside of school, potentially planning a threat to staff and students. He said the students had no motive or target to carry through with a plan.

If you have any questions about the incident, you are asked to call the school.
