Weather Worries For Thunder Over Louisville

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky (LEX 18) With a strong chance of rain in the forecast, there may be some major problems for this year's Thunder Over Louisville.

Organizers are not only scrambling to get everything ready for the big event, they're also trying to decide how the show will go on.

Thunder Over Louisville is one of the biggest events of the year and organizers say that cancelling the event or changing the date is not possible. Whatever happens weather-wise, the show will go on, but there may be fewer planes in the air show.

“Our intention is for them to not really see a difference other than saying 'don't they usually go higher than that?',” said Thunder Over Louisville Air Boss Mike Riordan.

If predictions are right, clouds may be too low for anyone to fly for certain periods.

There's also a chance they may end up telling boaters to stay off the river.

“It is going to be dangerous if the water levels do increase rapidly,” said Lt. Karl garrison with the U.S. Coast Guard.

The final decisions about how to best proceed with the show will be made the day of the event.
