March For Peace Held In Lexington

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) A March for Peace was held Friday night in Lexington to honor the memory of a murder victim.

Today would have been James Blair's 28th birthday. He was shot and killed last October at the Chase Parking Garage.

"It's difficult to know that I can't call him or that's he's not going to pop up at my house," his cousin, Karlisha Ballard said at the march.

The family hopes that they can use what happened to Blair to convince people to stop the violence.

They said it would help for people to mentor and talk to the youth in the community to let them know crime doesn't pay.

Balloons and photos were up to celebrate Blair's life. There was also live music and snacks to feel like a birthday party.

"We still love him. He's in our heart always, always, always," said Blair's aunt, Lisa Guy.

The family also told LEX 18 that they feel for the loved ones of the man suspected of killing Blair. Just last week, they were told that he was killed in a shooting.

"At the end of the day, the both were fathers. They both got mothers. They both got sisters. They both got family," said Ballard.
