Jim Belanger, who developed record-setting pitchers and 10 major-league draft picks over the last four years at Maryland, and did a wonderful job in his first season at UK's pitching coach, is up for assistant coach of the year.
“I wanted Coach Belanger at Kentucky for numerous reasons,” Mingione said when he hired him. “What stood out to me was how much family means to him, the fact he’s won everywhere he’s been and his track record of player development.
Bellanger had to do plenty of rebuilding in this years pitching staff.
