Family Frustrated After Woman Connected To Murder Released On Bond

Posted: Updated:

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) - A woman charged in connection to a Montgomery County murder is out of jail on bond.

Now the family of the victim is worried about their safety.

Just before Christmas 2011, police say Paul Brewer invited Natasha Martin and Nickie Miller to his house in Mt. Sterling. That's when two men showed up and robbed him, and shot Brewer to death.

Brewer's sister, Liz Barry, keeps detailed notes and a binder that starts with her brother's obituary, and ends with the latest court proceedings for the suspects.

"It has been a nightmare. It's something that unless it happens to someone, they don't know," said Barry.

Martin, Miller and Cody Hall were charged in connection with Brewer's death. In April, Miller was released on a property bond, before being arrested three weeks later for violating his bond.

On Wednesday, Martin was released on a $50,000 surety bond, and is on house arrest.

"It makes me feel horrible because here she is out. (But) Paul had no choice, he had no choice at all," said Barry.

Barry says she's frustrated with the justice system. She didn't even know that Martin had bonded out.

Nickie Miller, who is charged with murder and robbery, is scheduled to go to trial on July 17 in Montgomery County.
