GREENVILLE, S.C. (WYFF)-- Deputies say the report of a car being stolen by a naked man covered in blood, led to a chase and a death investigation.
Deputies said the car was reported stolen from an address along Hartwick Lane in Fountain Inn around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to deputies, a witness followed the suspect until authorities could locate the vehicle on I-385 northbound.
Deputies said when they tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect refused to pull over and started the chase.
Deputies said the chase ended when they were able to corral the car with their vehicles.
The driver was taken into custody near Liberty Plaza in downtown Greenville.
During the chase, other deputies continuing the investigation on Hartwick Lane found a significant amount of blood around and in the home next door to where the car was stolen.
A short time later deputies found a woman dead inside the home.
The Greenville County coroner ruled the woman's death a homicide but has not released her identity. In a media release, the coroner said the victim appeared to have multiple sharp forces injuries, but the official cause of death has not been determined.
Deputies said the driver arrested after the chase is in custody on a charge of failure to stop for a blue light while the investigation into the woman's death continues.
