Suspected Floyd County Shooter On The Run

GRETHEL, Ky. (LEX 18) -- The man wanted in a Floyd County shooting is still on the run.

The shooting happened Saturday morning in the Grethel community of Floyd County. The preliminary investigation shows that the victim and 41-year-old Toby Akers of Martin were involved in an altercation at Branham's Creek. Akers allegedly shot the victim and fled the scene. The victim was transported to Pikeville Medical Center with potential life-threatening injuries.

According to police, a warrant was obtained on Akers for 1st Degree Assault and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon. An arrest has not yet been made and troopers continue to search for Akers.

    LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - A doctor at Baptist Health Lexington has been taken into custody after allegedly showing up intoxicated to do a surgery. A spokesperson with Baptist Health Lexington confirms that Dr. Theodore Gerstle, a plastic surgeon, was arrested after leaving the hospital. He had just had a confrontation with hospital administration. Dr. Gestle's privileges have been revoked pending an investigation. He has been charged with a public intoxication charge.
