Posted: Updated:

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) -- The Rowan County man accused of murdering his daughter's boyfriend is set to begin trial this morning.

In August of 2016, Investigators say Jimmy Adkins got into a fight with his girlfriend at a home in Morehead. During the altercation, police say Adkins left the home and returned a short time later to find the girl's father, Teddy Johnson waiting for him.

Officials say that Johnson shot and killed Adkins. He has previously entered a not guilty plea.

His trial is expected to begin at nine this morning.
