RICHMOND, Ky. – After 10 consecutive road matches to open the season, the Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team will return to McBrayer Arena for its home opener on Tuesday against Seattle University. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m
.WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
-EKU (2-8) just returned home from the Carolina Classic, falling to South Carolina, Radford and Miami of Ohio.
-Nikki Drost was named Carolina Classic All-Tournament after tallying 30 kills (2.73 kills per set) and notching 22 digs.
-Sophomore Rachel Woody led the Colonels with 70 assists (6.36 assists per set).
-EKU hit a stellar .429 in one set against the Redhawks.
-Cassie Knutson (11 kills, 13 assists) and Celina Sanks (11 kills, 10 digs) both notched double-doubles against Miami.
-EKU returns all letterwinners from last season.
-Drost and Woody were both named All-OVC Preseason Selections going into the season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
-Seattle is 2-7 on the season after winning 1-of-3 matches at the Northern Kentucky Invitational last weekend, dropping games to NKU and Sacramento State.
-Seattle is hitting .201 on the season with opponents hitting .289 against them.
-SU is committing more errors than opponents, 56-39.
-Junior setter Shae Harris set a Seattle University DI single-match record with 62 assists in the win over Bowling Green at the NKU Invite.
-The squad hits the road again for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where they will take part in the Panther Challenge. They will play one game on Friday against Cleveland State University at 4:30 p.m. and play two on Saturday against the University of Pittsburgh at 10 a.m. and the University of California Santa Barbara at 5 p.m.
