MERCER COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) -- The suspects in the murder of a Mercer County teen appeared in court on Tuesday.
Trenton Easterling, Meagan Sims and Zachary Lay are all charged in connection with the death of Tristan Cole. Easterling is charged with murder and robbery. Sims and Lay are accused tampering with evidence.
Easterling's attorney won a motion earlier this year to have certain statements suppressed. On Monday, Easterling also won another motion to be transferred to the Boyle County Detention Center from the juvenile detention center. He sat in the front row of the courtroom clutching a Bible.
Defendant Meagan Sims dropped her state appointed counsel in favor of a private attorney. Her next hearing will be November 14.
Lay pleaded guilty to charges of tampering with physical evidence and drug charges. He will be sentenced for those crimes on October 10.
