Scott Co. Sports Warns Of Scam

GEORGETOWN, Ky (LEX 18) Georgetown Police shared a Facebook post about a scam in Scott County.

Scott County Sports officials said that an out-of-state business is contacting Scott County businesses soliciting money on behalf of SCHS Athletics.

It says that 'fundraising on behalf of the Scott County School System and/or using the Scott County logo without permission is not permissible'. 

The letter below is being sent out to businesses

"We are reaching out to you as a leading local business. I'm working with the cheer coach & we are getting geared up for the 2017 Varsity Basketball Season. These ads go so fast, so for the 2017 year we will be doing 500 Mascot T-shirts. The school name, mascot, and one Spotlight Sponsor will be printed on the front of the T-shirt and 9 Proud Sponsors will be on the back. All prints will be done in full color or the school colors (front spotlight must be school colors).

***Each Sponsor will be announced at halftime of every varsity home game (boys/girls) over the PA system. The season runs from November 2017 to March 2018.***

There were numerous sightings in the United States from coast to coast. Kentucky had around 10 reports filed with the American Meteor Society from cities including Horse Cave, Lexington, Simpsonville, Louisville, East Bernstadt, Summersville, fort Mitchell and Madisonville.
