Knott Co.Trail Ride Starts Tomorrow

Posted: Updated:

KNOTT COUNTY, KY (LEX 18) The annual Knott County Trail Ride has ramped up security this year. The decision was prompted after organizers saw ticket sales soar because Montgomery Gentry was scheduled to play a concert.

Since the Las Vegas shooting, many attendees are thankful for the added protection.

"We had 100 to 1, between patrons and security personnel, and that's probably the best you'll see anywhere at any event," said Chief Nelson Reynolds with the Knott County Police Department.

They've brought in extra State Troopers, police, deputies, and private security.

Because of the tragic helicopter crash that killed Troy Gentry, campers and riders will instead honor the musician's life. On Saturday riders plan to do a balloon release honoring the lives of those killed in Las Vegas and the life of Troy Gentry.

The Knott County Trail Ride kicks off Thursday and ends on Saturday. For more information, click here
