Film Shot In Lexington To Air On The SyFy Channel

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - A movie that was shot earlier this year in Lexington will air this weekend on the SyFy channel.

Bryan Sexton, the film's producer, spoke with LEX 18 back when he was working on a project titled "The Wiccan." That project has since been renamed "The House of the Witch" and has been picked up by the SyFy channel and will air this weekend. The film depicts a group of teenagers staying at a notoriously haunted house and battling a mysterious entity.

The entirety of the film was shot at the abandoned Meadowcrest mansion on Winchester Road.

Sexton, a Kentucky native, always wanted to work on movies, but he also wanted to bring his films back to the Bluegrass.

"As a kid growing up here, I would go out to the movies with my family, and I would always kind of dream of bringing projects here," said Sexton.

Sexton, along with his crew, scouted more than 30 homes in the Lexington area. They settled on the abandoned mansion just a stone's throw from Hamburg.

"It's dilapidated. It has good bones, and it's still in really good shape under that interior shell," said Sexton.

The movie will air at 9 p.m. this Saturday on the SyFy Channel.
