KSP: Man Arrested After Allegedly Torturing Dog

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) KSP responded to a call about a dog possibly being burned alive behind a residence on Friday. 

When they arrived on the scene on Meadow View Drive in Science Hill, Trooper William Cowan found a deceased dog that had been burned behind the residence.

As Trooper Cowan approached the home to conduct an investigation, 40-year-old James C. Calhoun came out holding a hand-gun.

After commands from police, Calhoun dropped the weapon and was taken into custody.

Animal Control responded to the scene and took possession of the deceased dog.

Calhoun was arrested and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center and charged with: Torture of a Dog or Cat 1st Offense, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree-Police Officer, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree and Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree.
