Senior Noah Combs finished in the top-10 for the fourth time in five events this season and the Eastern Kentucky University men’s golf team tied for fourth with Utah at the 2017 Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational.
Combs tied for eighth after shooting rounds of 75, 72 and a final round 4-under 68 to finish with a 54-hole total of 215 (-1).
Bowling Green (864) captured the team title by two shots over host West Virginia (866). Rutgers (868) placed third.
Eastern and Utah finished with identical scores of 869, just one shot out of third and five behind the leader.
James Madison (872) was three shots back in sixth. Marshall (875) was seventh, Akron (883) eight and Towson (887) ninth.
The 16-team event was contested at the par-72, 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Will Sallee had a top-20 performance, tying for 15th with a three-round total of 217. Jared Brown (219) finished 23rd. Erik Lindwall (220) tied for 24th and Billy Basham (223) tied for 43rd.
Next up for EKU is the Duck Commander Intercollegiate hosted by Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 29-31 at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Arkansas.
