Western Ky. Animal Shelter In Need Of Donations After Hoarding Case

Posted: Updated:

HENDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WFIE) -  An urgent call for help is coming from a Kentucky animal shelter after one of the biggest cases of animal hoarding in the state was uncovered last week.

More than 400 animals, including dogs, rabbits, ponies and a white dove were found in a farm in the town of Reed. Currently, Henderson County Animal Shelter is trying to manage the menagerie. The 400 animals were living in squalor on a 10-acre Western Kentucky farm.

Right now, the shelter is in dire need of different types of food.

"We need poultry feed, we need rabbit feed, hay, and straw, straw for bedding hay for feed for goats and horses," said Angie Hagedorn, director of the Humane Society.

They are also in need of cleaning supplies and monetary donations. Even your recycle gourds and pumpkins from Halloween can be used as food.
