Team Records and Series Notes

  • This was the first and only exhibition game of the season for both teams.
  • This was the first time Kentucky and Southern Indiana have met in women’s basketball.
    • Tonight’s attendance was 1,089
  • The Wildcats will being the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. ET against Sacramento State inside Memorial Coliseum. The game will be televised on the SEC Network+ and also broadcast live on the UK Sports Radio Network with Darren Headrick calling the action.
  • The season opener next Friday will start the 44th season of varsity women’s basketball at Kentucky.
    • UK has an all-time record of 783-152 (.603) overall, including a 430-152 (.738) mark all-time in Memorial Coliseum.
  • Matthew Mitchell is in his 11th season as head coach at Kentucky. He is the winningest head coach in program history at 241-100 (.706).

  • Kentucky used the starting combination of senior Alyssa Rice, senior Makenzie Cann, junior Taylor Murray, junior Maci Morris and freshman Dorie Harrison.
  • Kentucky closed the first quarter on an 11-1 run.
    • USI did not score in the final 3:31 of the first quarter.
  • UK held USI to just three points in the first six minutes of the second quarter and did not allow a point in the 5:30 span.
  • Kentucky took control of the game late in the second quarter by going on a 12-0 run midway through the quarter.
    • UK had a 19-3 run that lasted the final 8:32 of the second quarter.
  • Southern Indiana scored just seven points in the second quarter.
  • All 14 UK players saw the floor in the game, including 12 in the first half.
    • 11 Wildcats scored at least one point.

Player Notes

  • Junior guard Maci Morris led all scorers in the first half with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting
    • Morris was 2-of-2 from 3 and 1-for-2 from the free throw line.
    • Morris led UK in second-half scoring as well with eight points on 2-of-3 shooting
    • Morris was UK’s leading scorer in the game with 19 points on 6-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from 3. She was one point shy of the game high (20), which was held by Kacy Eschweiler of USI.
    • Her 19 points would have qualified for her second-highest point production in her career. She had 29 against Arizona State last season.
  • Junior guard Taylor Murray scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including one 3 and had team bests in rebounding (6), assists (6) and steals (4)
    • Murray had 18 games with 10 or more points last season
  • True freshman forward Tatyana Wyatt was +41 in her 19 minutes of play. She contributed 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
  • Fellow true freshman post Dorie Harrison started and scored eight points with three rebounds.
  • True freshman forward KeKe McKinney had nine points with three rebounds and an assist.
  • Senior Alyssa Rice scored nine points with three rebounds and three blocks.
  • Sophomore guard Jaida Roper had nine points with three rebounds and three assists.
