Man Charged In Shooting Death Of Teen Charged With Solicitation To Murder

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) - A man charged in the 2016 shooting death of a 15-year-old girl who was at a friend's slumber party has been charged with soliciting a man's murder.

Court records obtained by LEX 18 show that Michael K. Davidson tried to hire a third-party to kill a man. Neither specific details of the transaction nor the motive were given in the indictment.

Relatives say 15-year-old Morgan Penn was inside a trailer with a few friends in August 2016 when according to police Davidson fired from outside. Penn, a freshman at Scott County's 9th-Grade School, was killed.

Davidson was identified by witnesses as the gunman. Police say Davidson fled the scene and was pulled over shortly after on Frankfort Pike.  In his car, police say, they found evidence linking him to the scene.

The alleged murder-for-hire incident happened around Jan. 12 of this year.
