Corbin Man Charged With Kidnapping, Impersonating An Officer

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) - Police have charged a Corbin man with impersonating a police officer, kidnapping and other offenses following a chase early Saturday morning.

Police say they received a 911 call about 2 a.m. by someone claiming Dewey Patrick Warren, 37, had forced a woman into his vehicle in Bimble. Police say the alleged victim had an active restraining order against Warren.

Police spotted the vehicle about a half hour later in Gray. They say when they attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver fled at speeds exceeding 90 mph.

Police say that after they stopped the vehicle at U.S. Highway 25E and the Corbin Bypass. Warren identified himself as a Corbin police officer. The woman was found inside the vehicle.

In addition to the impersonation and kidnapping charges, Warren faces charges related to violating the protection order, fleeing police and driving violations including speeding, driving under the influence, driving without a license and driving without insurance.

Warren is being held at the Knox County Detention Center.

He had just had a confrontation with hospital administration. Dr. Gestle's privileges have been revoked pending an investigation. He has been charged with a public intoxication charge.
