KNOTT COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) The names of two officers involved in an officer-involved shooting in Pippa Passes last week have been released.

On November 1, the officers encountered 28-year-old Christopher Jacobs while attempting to serve an arrest warrant on another person at a home on Hemp Patch Road. They say Jacobs had arrest warrants pending against him.

Officers say Jacobs hid under a home as they negotiated with him to come out. He exited suddenly and got into a car. Both the trooper and deputy attempted to detain him, but say that they were unable to remove Jacobs from the vehicle after a physical altercation. Troopers say that both officers deployed their tasers, but were unsuccessful. As the deputy attempted to remove Jacobs from the vehicle, the car accelerated forward and hit a cruiser. The deputy moved away from the vehicle. The car then reversed and officers say it accelerated towards the trooper who fired his weapon, striking Jacobs.

Jacobs was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tpr. Leo Slone, a two year veteran with KSP, and Dep. Robbie Slone, a 14 year veteran with Knott County Sheriff’s Department, have both been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure for both agencies during a deadly force incident.
