Trent Gilbert was blazing hot in the first half, 8-of-11 from three-point range, helping Georgetown College men’s basketball to a fast start against Ohio State University-Lima. The No. 4 Tigers (5-0) won 120-71, their second 120 point game this season. Gilbert finished with a game-high 24 points. It is three shy of his career-high. Seven players finished in double figures for Georgetown, while Lima showed its scrappiness along with some good shooting to battle all night long. Four Barrons finished in double figures led by Elijah Willis’ 18. The visitors hit 13 threes and GC hit 15.
GC is back in action Thursday, Friday and Saturday as it hosts the second annual MSC-SSAC Crossover Challenge. Other Mid-South Conference teams are University of Pikeville and Campbellsville. Martin Methodist, Brewton-Parker and Bethel represent the Southern State Athletic Conference. Georgetown plays Bethel 8 pm Thursday, Martin Methodist 6 pm Friday and Bretwon-Parker 11 am Saturday.
