Bullet Goes Through Couple's Home

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) Someone shot a bullet right through one Lexington couple's home. They say that they are lucky to be telling their story.

Patricia and Allen Clay say that Sunday night, a bullet flew through their St. Martin village home.

The two were asleep when it happened.

"You could hear something that you thought was a gunshot, but somebody was also beating on my bedroom window," said Patricia.

Turns out, someone was running from gunfire from a shooting that started on Lindberg Drive and spilled into their neighborhood.

The man continued running before the Clays knew their home had been hit.

"Of course we were unnerved, but we didn't think anything had, you know, happened," she said.

Patricia noticed the hole from the bullet Monday morning when she went out to get the paper. She immediately thought how bad that night could have been. They had family visiting their home on Sunday and had left before the shooting. They were all in the living room.

"Made me feel really, really strange being in here," she said. "You know, you go to bed, you think if you're at home you're pretty safe, but that's not so true."

She told LEX 18 that she knows all of their neighbors will keep looking out for each other.
