2 Dead After Police Chase In Flatwoods

FLATWOODS, Ky. (WSAZ) – Two people were shot and killed by police after a chase overnight in Eastern Kentucky.

Multiple law enforcement agencies in Greenup County were chasing a vehicle late Thursday night.

The chase came to an end at the intersection of Route 693 and Route 207 in Flatwoods. Neighbors told reporters that they heard at least 20 gunshots. It happened around 10 p.m. Thursday night. 

Earl Jenkins told LEX 18 his 23-year-old niece, Ashley Jenkins, was one of the people shot and killed. he said her boyfriend, Kiser Sturgell, was the one driving when they led police on a chase.  Earl said he heard from family that Sturgell had stolen a car from someone at gunpoint in Ohio. 

Two individuals inside the vehicle were killed.
