Firefighters To Hold Benefit Dinner For Family Killed In Crash

INDEPENDENCE, Ky (FOX 19) There will be a fundraiser to help pay for the burial expenses of a family recently killed in a tragic northern Kentucky crash. 

27-year-old Samantha Malohn, 26-year-old Rodney Pollitt, and their three kids, 9-year-old Hailieann, 8 -year-old Brenden, and 6-year-old Cailie were all killed in a car crash on October 26 in Independence.

FOX 19 is reporting that the Independence Professional Firefighters Local 3945 is hosting a benefit dinner to assist with the expenses. Any additional money raised will go to a scholarship fund in the children's name and awarded to children with Down's Syndrome in the Grant County School District.

Smokin' This and That BBQ will be providing food for the dinner. The Old Folkers and Pete Dressman will provide live music. 

Items will be raffled off and additional items selected for a silent auction.

The dinner will be held on November 18 at St. Barbara Church at 4042 Turkeyfoot Road in Independence. The event will be from 6 p.m.- 11 p.m.

Anyone wishing to donate can drop off funds to any of the Independence Fire District stations. Monies raised can be mailed to the Local 3945 at PO Box 564, Independence, Ky. 41051. Any checks should be made payable to the Independence Professional Firefighters Local 3945.
