Family Looks To Create Christmas Joy Out Of Tragedy

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - The family of a murdered Lexington toddler who was killed last December is still mourning the loss of their child.

As the anniversary of her death approaches, her loved ones have started a 'Toys for Tots' campaign in Nova Gallmann's honor.

It will be the second Christmas without Nova's laugh and smile. On December 6, 2016, she was shot inside of her home as she slept near her family's Christmas tree. The family now wants to start a program that is reminiscent of her giving nature.

"She was her own little person, but she was giving. She didn't have any problem sharing. We just felt like this is something that everybody could remember Nova by,"  Tammye Sparks told LEX 18.

The family remembers Nova as a shoe fanatic and her love for the movie 'Frozen.' They're hoping donations of toys that she liked can go to other kids that would enjoy them just as much as she would have. They also hope to open a thrift store in her honor that would give clothes to those less fortunate.

If you would like to donate to the family's 'Toys for Tots' campaign, a drop-off location has been set up at The Shell Station at 3110 Richmond Road. You can also call (859) 202-5563 and speak to Stacey or call (859) 447-2119 and speak with Tammye.
