Lions Club Donates $175,000 To Charity Causes

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - The Lexington Lions Club held it's annual charity gifting night in downtown Lexington on Monday evening.

Proceeds from the Bluegrass Fair were distributed to more than a dozen organizations. That includes the Lions Eye Bank, which received $35,000 to help people who need corneal transplants to restore their vision.

The club's main fundraising focus is directed toward vision, hearing, diabetes charities and organizations.

Since 1996, the Lions Club has given millions to numerous causes.

"It's our way of serving our community. We gave away just about $175,000 tonight," said Pat Ryan, Lexington Lions Club President.

The next Bluegrass Fair is in July, but the club raises money year-round.
