LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) -- A Lexington woman has been arrested in connection with a Monday evening shooting on Cheryl Lane.

Brooke June, 26, has been charged with second-degree assault, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Around 11:50 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Cheryl Lane for a victim who had been shot, police said. A 26-year-old victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives learned that June and the victim are acquaintances and had been involved in a dispute over narcotics, according to police.

June was located not long after the shooting and taken into custody without incident. She is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.
