Candlelight Vigil Held For Dylan Fields

Posted: Updated:

CLARK COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) — Friends and family gathered on a community basketball court to remember a Clark County teenager recently killed in a car crash.

The candlelight vigil was held for 16-year-old Dylan Fields. Friends and family chose to have it on the basketball court on Cook Avenue because it's where they said Fields was at his best.

"He's hooped down here since he was as big as all the little other ones down here," said Justin Overpeck, a longtime friend. "That's why they're down here hooping now, they've all watched us."

Fields was riding in a car on Ecton Road last week when it crashed and caught fire. The driver and another passenger were seriously injured, but Fields did not survive.

Family said Fields was expecting a child and now family will step in to help the mother raise it.

"He was really excited about that child," said Bradley Ramsey. "He already had the names picked out and everything."

He became the third teenager killed in Clark County in less than a week after Kayla Holland and Adrianna Castro were killed in a shooting.

"We have a community right now that's going through a lot of grieving and mourning," said Clark County Coroner Robert Gayheart. "There will be a day of healing that comes from this."
