LEX 18 Digital: Christmas Store Accepting Toys

Posted: Updated:

The store will offer families a chance to shop for toys for children at no cost for the 22nd year in a row. Last year, the store offered more than 18,000 kids toys, said Ginny Ramsey, Director of the Catholic Action Center, the organization that manages the event.

The store will be open at the Southland Christian Church, 2349 Richmond Road, from Dec. 19 to Dec. 21. Families who want to shop can get tickets on Dec. 19, Ramsey said. Participants will be asked how many children they have and given a time to shop, she said.

"We have never run out," Ramsey said. "We always count on our wonderful community to come forth and help us be sure that children living in poverty are not left out on Christmas morning."

Donations will be accepted at several locations across Lexington:

Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, 601 Hill n Dale Drive

    Tracking Friday Severe Storm Threat

An unusually potent summer setup will result in a potentially significant severe storm threat, mainly late in the day Friday. After a few morning showers & storms we should see a late morning/midday break allowing for destabilization and a stronger round (or rounds) of storms to develop late in the afternoon and track east through the evening. We're ramping up the LEX 18 Severe Threat Index to 2, a moderate risk. Damaging wind & large hail will be the primary threat for the B...
