LUCAS, Ky. (Kentucky Press News Service)-- Barren River Lake State Resort Park is getting ready to host sandhill crane tours in January.

Thousands of sandhill cranes make Barren River Lake a winter stop there as they migrate.

The lake's exposed mud flats in winter provide the birds with a perfect spot to rest.

The tours are scheduled for two weekends in late January
