Suspicious Device At Blue Grass Airport Turns Out To Be Dud

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Investigators say they still do not know who left a suspicious device near Tac-Air at Blue Grass Airport, which turned out to be innocuous.

The bomb squad was called out to the scene Saturday afternoon after the suspicious package was discovered.

Police say a PVC pipe with caps on the end was initially feared to be a pipe bomb. However, it turns out the pipe was empty.

Blue Grass Airport officials say the device was found around 2:30 p.m. at a construction site on airport property.

Police set up a perimeter and closed Airport Road as a precaution for awhile. Airport officials say the incident did not affect incoming or outgoing flights.
