Kentucky 'Amped' About Bowl Game

On what the team’s attitude about the bowl game this year compared to last year…
“Basically the same, everyone is really amped up about it. Most of us really wanted to go to the Music City so most of us are really happen to get that chance to go out with a final bang and go play one more last bowl game.

On why they wanted to go to the Music City…
“There were a lot bowls we wanted to go to, some Florida bowls maybe, but the Music City and obviously Nashville, Tennessee, that’s a great bowl to go to.”

On if the team is hungry to play because of the way they finished…
“That bad taste in our mouth from that last game hasn’t gone away. A lot of us are really trying to go out and get this win. Last year, we were really excited because we beat Louisville, our rival, and now we have that bad taste in our mouth and we are eager and anxious to go an win this last game.”

On if he has been injured the last half of the season…
“We’ve all been banged up on this team. Toward the end of the season, everyone gets those bumps and bruises. My play obviously wasn’t that good and that’s something that I have to work on. This time that we get off this week and a half or so, gives us a chance to get back in the training room, get back in the weight room and get our bumps and bruises healed up.”

On if he’s motivated personally to have a better end to the season…
“Definitely. Definitely. I’m not happy at all with the way I’ve played these last few games.  So to get this last bowl game to prove to myself again and everyone else that I can play football and that the rest of this team can play (is important).”

On what the next few weeks of practice will be like and how the staff is working to replace him…
“We just want to finish it off strong. College football is a business so you have to keep getting guys in. I’m excited for where this program is going to go. Just to see the new recruits they have, the freshmen, the sophomores and even the juniors that we’ve got coming back, I’m really excited to see what this team’s got for next year, too.”

On what the freshmen, sophomores and juniors can get from bowl practices…
“These extra weeks of practice, instead of having the whole month, month and a half off, it really means a lot to get this little bit extra (work) in because a lot of guys don’t. Some teams I guess aren’t privileged enough or don’t get the opportunity to get these extra practices in so they kind of fall off. They go enjoy their winter break, maybe not practice, but this gives our team a lot better chance to build chemistry again.”

On his message to fans that are discouraged on how the season ends…
“It’s football. You win some, you lose some. Unfortunately, we lost a few of those last ones but we would love to see the support in Nashville. It always means a lot to us to have our fans behind us and have them there and look up in the stands and see that sea of blue.”

On what he sees in the QBs behind him…
“Maturity and a lot of talent. Drew (Barker) obviously he’s become incredible. Gunnar (Hoak), Danny (Clark), I would love to see Walker (Wood) get back out there. He hasn’t been with us too much but that kid is a stud. He’s in the training room, he’s up here more than most of the guys here trying to get that extra work in. All those guys have tremendous talent and I’m really looking forward to what they’ve got in store for next season.”

On his thoughts about where he came from and where he is now, starting for an SEC team…
“Me and Naquez Pringle, he’s my roommate, we were just talking about that this past week. We were talking about where we both started and how now we’re both playing our last game at Kentucky. It’s been a wild ride for both of us but we’ve really enjoyed it. We’re happy with where we are at and we are just really looking forward to this last one.”
