Posted: Updated:

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) -- Deputies in Laurel County found a 16-year-old boy they were searching for who authorities say shot someone in the leg in the Pittsburg area of Laurel County.

The shooting happened on Love Road off Slate Lick Road in the Pittsburg area of the county.

Deputies say the 16 year-old showed up to a home about a stolen gun.

That's when 38 year-old Timothy Dewayne Smith walked outside. Shortly after, police say the suspect shot Smith in the leg, then shot at the mobile home.

Three people were inside at the time.

Smith was flown to UK hospital, where he's expected to recover.

Deputies say the teen will be charged with assault, wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, and giving an officer a false identification.
