Anderson Co. Man Gives Back After Fire

Posted: Updated:

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) -- An Anderson County man wants to pay it forward this holiday season after suffering his own tragedy three years ago.

"We're holding a Christmas raffle that we fix one need family's car for free," Thomas Borgia said Wednesday at his business, Anderson Automotive in Lawrenceburg.

Borgia said this is a way of giving back to a town that's given him so much after the worst moment of his life.

"We lost everything," Borgia said. "We had our whole racing operation, my two sons and their race cars, I had race cars, and everything was inside that garage."

One of the race cars he helped build with his son, then 10 years old, is autistic. It was destroyed in the 2014 fire. The Anderson Automotive garage is back in business, and Borgia said this contest is a way to say thanks -- called a literal "labor of love."

"It's a tearjerker knowing I'm going to help someone no matter what situation I'm in my life at that point," he said. "I'm always able to step up help someone in need at that time of year."

To see the contest, visit the Anderson Automotive's Facebook page.
