LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - Federal documents in the case of Eric C Conn remain sealed but some details of his escape and capture are being released slowly to the public.

Conn was thrust in the public fallout after the revelation of a multi-million dollar social security disability scheme. The investigation took down Conn, a judge, a doctor and caused nearly 900 recipients of disability to have their benefits stripped.

On June 2, while traveling to  Lexington to meet his lawyers, the FBI alleges that a co-conspirator helped Conn make a run for it. Documents say that Conn cut off his ankle bracelet and placed it into a bag lined with foil to block the signal. Curtis Lee Wyatt, later indicted on charges related to the escape, is accused of helping get a vehicle for Conn as well as testing border crossings on foot to ascertain the easiest point to cross into Mexico.

The search for Conn lasted just over six months when he was captured at a Pizza Hut in Honduras. CBS News in New York reports that officials were able to spot him when he connected his phone to Wifi.

Conn is now lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
