Lexington Activates Cold-Weather Plan For Homeless Care

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — As Arctic air moves into the region, the city of Lexington is activating its action plan aimed at keeping people without homes safe.

The city's Office of Homelessness Prevention & Intervention Weather Plan is triggered when temperatures are forecast to fall below 32 degrees.

When the plan is active, the city extends its shelter services and offers free transportation to area shelters.

The city says the plan will be in effect through Jan. 2, 2018.

People wishing to report someone who may need shelter is asked to call or text the Catholic Action Center at 859-913-0038 from Wednesday to Sunday between 5 and 11 p.m.
