No Injuries Sustained In Laurel Co. House Fire

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)-- A home was destroyed in a fire Saturday night.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of Echo Valley Road.

Officials say when fire crews arrived, they found a double wide fully involved. It took firefighters about three hours to knock down the flames, they didn't' clear the scene until about 3 a.m. Sunday morning. 

Lily Fire Dept Asst. Chief David Griffith says there was a family inside when the fire started but they all got out safely. The homeowner told firefighters the flames started near the chimney. 

Griffith said there was concern about the fire spreading but they were able to prevent nearby structures from catching fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    MORGANFIELD, Ky. (AP) - A coroner says a Kentucky judge-executive charged with using his position to solicit gifts and payments has been found dead at his home. Union County coroner Stephen Shouse tells The Gleaner that the body of 44-year-old Joseph L. "Jody" Jenkins was discovered Sunday morning. Shouse says an autopsy is planned Monday at a medical examiner's office in Madisonville. Jenkins was charged in September with four counts of scheming to defraud the county. F...
