Compassionate Caravan Remains Active As Temps Drop

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - As the temperature continues to drop the Catholic Action Center's "Compassionate Caravan" will continue to drive around town to offer shelter to those who need it most.

The goal of the program is to find those who are homeless in Lexington and offer them a ride to a nearby shelter.

If anyone declines the ride, volunteers are still able to help by providing them with warm coats, blankets, gloves and scarves on the spot, to help them make it through one more night.

There are many ways to volunteer and help out.

The shelter needs large coats, long underwear, hats, gloves, socks and canned soup. You can bring those items to the Catholic Action Center on Industry Road. You can also volunteer with the Caravan by meeting at the Center at 6 p.m.

If you know someone who needs shelter, call 859-913-0038.
