LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - Several players and coaches met with the media in advance of Saturday's game against Louisville.

#3, Hamidou Diallo, R-Fr., G

On the UCLA game in retrospect …

“I felt like (it was a) bad game for us as a whole and a lot of mistakes and a lack of intensity.”

On why that happened …

“I honestly wouldn’t be able to tell you. Just gotta get back in the gym, get back to work and get prepared for our next couple games coming up.”

On whether the loss made them mad …

“Yeah, of course. Every loss makes us mad. Losing isn’t fun. It’s a tough road and you just gotta know as a whole that maybe it was a lesson.”

On how to build a will to win …

“You gotta work at it. Put in time in the gym, grinding games out, just things like that. It’s just all about getting back in the gym and refocusing.”

On the fact that their defense has been good at times …

“Key word: at times. We gotta bring it 100 percent. You can’t be a sometime defender, sometime not. Just learning and just trying to get better at it and just keep on pushing, basically.”

On the rivalry …

“Two great teams every year and just going in and competing with each other. It’s going to be a tough game and it’s going to be a war.”

On what kind of intensity he thinks they will bring …

“We just came off a loss, so it’s definitely going to be a sense of urgency and we’re definitely going to want to get a win. We don’t like losing, so we’re going to bring a different level of energy and refocus on things that we messed up during UCLA.”

On UofL’s shot blocking …

“If they’re No. 2 (nationally in shot blocking), they’re a great shot-blocking team. We’re just going to have to go out there and compete.”

On what the rivalry game adds coming off a loss …

“Every game is a big game. Every game’s a big game. We’re on a national stage and every team is going to play their best game versus us. It’s going to be another war and we’re just going to have to go out there and compete and not stop fighting.”

On going home after a loss …

“Definitely odd. Odd loss and just disappointing. There’s only one thing to do when you’re disappointed: get back in the gym.”

On whether they have something to prove …

“I feel like we have to prove something every game. Nothing is really handed to us and, as we can see, every team’s going to play tough. So we have to come in with a different type of energy and just make sure that we’re the aggressors.”

On what he knows about the rivalry from being recruited …

“I know it’s a big rivalry because I watch college basketball. So every time they’re playing each other, it’s a war. One year is here, next year is at Louisville so it’s just like that. Last year I know they had a tough game with them and it came all the way down to the wire and it didn’t come in our favor. So this year is going to be another tough one and hopefully we can pull out the win.”
