Sheriff: Man Admits To Robbing Delivery Man At Knifepoint

Posted: Updated:

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)--  A man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly robbed a delivery man.

It happened around 2:20 p.m. at the Elane Court Apartments in Corbin.

Officials say a Snappy Tomato Pizza delivery man had been robbed by knifepoint while making a delivery. The victim stated that a man wearing scarf around his face pulled a knife and demanded money from him. The man with the knife ran away on foot after receiving $30 in cash.

During the investigation deputies developed a suspect and had made several attempts to locate him. The sheriff was later contacted by a person who wanted to meet with him and give him information that would solve the robbery.

The sheriff traveled to Van Berber Apartments, located adjacent to the crime scene, and met with Joshua Wombles, 21, of Flat Lick.

While interviewing him, Wombles confessed that he was the person who robbed the pizza delivery guy. He also showed the sheriff the location of the knife used in the robbery.

Wombles was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery. He was also wanted on a Whitley County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on charges of Improper Registration Plate, No Insurance and Contempt of Court.

Wombles was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
