LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)-- A man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly stole around $1,000 worth of lottery tickets.

It happened around 11:05 a.m. at the Kroger on Lowry Lane.

According to the arrest citation, loss prevention advised that Andrew Magedanz, 28, stole approximately $1,098 worth of lottery tickets. He would then falsely enter items as being refunded without any items being returned to make it appear that his cash drawer was correct.

Police say Magedanz then created a false impression that he was entitled to the winnings and cash $6,568 worth of lottery tickets that had been stolen from Kroger at the Dairy Mart in Lexington. He was able to obtain the stolen tickets by accessing the Kroger computer without owner consent and knowingly stealing multiple lottery tickets.

Magedanz admitted to police that he stole approximately $10,000- $13,000 worth of lottery tickets.

He is facing charges of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, and first-degree unlawful access to computer.

According to jail records, he is no longer in custody.
