Kentucky Takes Down Louisville 90-61

Game notes from Alan Cutler.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) -  Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the hero of the day at Rupp Arena after he shot a career-high 24 points.

Louisville didn’t seem to come out for the second half with fire you need to get back in the game.

They seemed to have nothing left. Sacha Killeya-Jones came in with a dunk.  UK wins 90-61.

Most of Louisville's problems came from downtown.  They were 3 of 25 for 12%.  UK shot 48% from the field.

(Earlier version)

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - It was a perfect start for UK. Hamidou Diallo drives and dunks for the first bucket of the game. After UK goes up 5-0, Louisville goes on an 11-0 run.  Louisville leads 11-8 at the first TV timeout.

Neither team was shooting it the way they wanted.  By the next TV timeout, UK led 13-11 but they were shooting only 33% with 11:56 to go in the half.

With neither team playing well, the crowd at Rupp was looking for something to cheer about.  Shai Gilgeous gets it inside to Sacha Killeya-Jones for a dunk.

Sacha and Louisville freshman Dwayne Sutton had a few words after the dunk.  It’s a double technical. Looked like the refs want to make sure they keep control of the game. Louisville leads 19-18.

Terrific move by Shai. He finishes with his left hand.  UK goes up 25-21.

Rupp gets loud. UK forces a turnover and starts running. Hamidou dunks off a pass from Quade Green.   UK leads 30-21.

It quickly happens again and UK is running. Hamidou Diallo finishes with a layup. The 3 point play makes it 33-21 UK.  Rupp was rocking.

Diallo with a very exciting 11 points to lead everyone at the half.

Louisville is only 1-11 from downtown. They are shooting 9%.

UK leads 41-27 at the half.
